Stained pine coffee table, designed by Axel Einar Hjorth for Nordiska Kompaniet, Sweden, circa 1930s. Three-part base, reminiscent of the Rubin Vase by Edgar Rubin.

This specific table was sourced from an interior furnished with the ‘Lovö’ and ‘Sport’ series, designed by Axel Einar Hjorth and ordered from Nordiska Kompaniet for the family’s summer residence in 1930. The tabletop has been replaced with a larger-diameter top from Nordiska Kompaniet, making this a unique piece.

French Art Deco sofa set composed of one three-seater and two single armchairs, with rounded armrests and a low, enveloping silhouette. The backs are slightly more decorative than similar period examples, bringing to mind the work of Frances Elkins.

Reupholstered in an off-white cotton chenille blended with alpaca, a fabric that will develop a soft and elegant patina over time. The original frames have been carefully preserved; the internal springs were restored, and the original down filling was supplemented with new down to regain volume and comfort.

The set is unsigned. While the overall lines are close to pieces by Louis Sognot or René Drouet from the early 1930s, the more expressive back suggests a different maker, and a precise attribution cannot be confirmed.

Designed and made in France, circa 1930.

One of the earliest Akari lamps to leave the workshops of Gifu. This sphere of 55 centimeters is one of the purest forms in Noguchi's light sculptures.

Red sun and half-moon ideogram stamp (when you know, you know). So here you have it: a first edition piece, made by Ozeki & Co. between 1954 and 1964. Handmade from washi paper, drawn from mulberry bark, and stretched over a bamboo frame.

Noguchi conceived the Akari series in 1951 after visiting Gifu, where paper lanterns and umbrellas had been made by hand for centuries. He borrowed the technique and made it his own. Noguchi compared the glow of his lamps to the transience of cherry blossoms or falling leaves - and we love this thought.

Very good condition, consistent with age and use. Paper shade fully intact. Original wiring, can be adjusted on demand.

Overall dimensions:
Diameter: 55 cm

Patinated iron chairs by Luigi Serafini’s Suspiral. These chairs are surreal, sculptural pieces inspired by his fantastical visual language. Their organic, spiral-like forms blur the line between functional furniture and art. Serafini is best known for Codex Seraphinianus, an enigmatic illustrated encyclopedia of an imaginary world. Twelve pieces available, price per piece.

Provenance: Private residence, Paris, France.
Shows light wear consistent with age. In good vintage condition.

3-D vacuum-formed plastic multiple, produced in 1968, edition of unknown size. Comes with the accompanying book Lucio Fontana, published by Achille Mauri, Milan, with the original cardboard packaging. Framed in a wooden oak box with highest-grade museum glass.

A rare late multiple by Fontana, produced in the final year of the artist’s life. The work presents his Concetto Spaziale as a three-dimensional, industrially produced object, exploring the relationship between art, space, material and reproduction.

The multiple is documented as M-15 in H. Ruhé & C. Rigo, Lucio Fontana: Graphics, Multiples and More, p. 165.

Designed and made in Italy, circa 1968.
Provenance: Private Collection Milan.
Shows very light wear and decolorization consistent with age, very good condition.

Dimensions of the artwork: 29,5 x 29,5 cm

Beautiful oak daybed with croissilion headboards. Reminiscent of the more well-known "lit croissilion" or "lit simple" by Jean Royère. Royère created various iterations of this popular design. This specific bed was purchased in the mid-20th century in the Préfecture d'Oran, Algeria, where Jean Royère was active. Alongside its design and geographic origin, the assembly system of the bed is identical to beds made by Jean Royère. Due to these three aspects, we have attributed the piece to Jean Royère. The mattress was replaced and fitted with a linen cover and two bolsters, all handcrafted in Belgium.

Jean Royère did have a quite modernist visual language, although he was also able to combine more classic Art Deco elements in his interiors. As seen in Mobilier & Décoration in 1937, he combines a more Art Deco bed with his famous Croisillon chair. Christie’s, Wright, and Artcurial have all sold a similar, more decorative version of the Croisillon bed at auction, then called the “Croisillon Alexandrie” daybed.
