In 1951, Isamu Noguchi visited Gifu, Japan, famous for crafting lanterns and umbrellas from mulberry bark paper and bamboo. The Akari lamps, utilizing traditional Gifu methods, were meticulously handmade, the creation of washi paper from mulberry tree bark, carefully applied to bamboo frames.

Radiating a warm, soft light through handmade paper, Noguchi's Akari lamps fuse traditional Japanese materials with modern design. He compared them to the fleeting beauty of falling leaves and cherry blossoms, expressing that "All that you require to start a home are a room, a tatami, and Akari."

Very good condition conform age and use. Paper shade is fully intact - EU plug, can be changed to a US plug.
