Jean Prouvé - Grand Repos
Jean Prouvé, reclining easy chair Grand Repos, sprung seat, leather, steel - Designed in France around 1930, manufactured by Tecta in the 1980s. Stylish, modern, sleek, and extremely comfortable lounge chair. Of this rare chair designed by Jean Prouvé, only 100 pieces were produced. In 1980 this chair went into reproduction by Tecta. It’s made out of metal with leather seating and an arm and headrest. This iconic design has a unique adjustable lounge system.
The Grand Repos was first showcased during the UAM exhibition in 1930 before it was used to furnish Jean Prouvé’s own house. In 1980 Jean Prouvé slightly re-designed the Grand Repos chair for the German manufacturer Tecta. After his death in 1984, his family decided to stop the production. The Tecta reedition is thus quite rare and sought after by design collectors. Overall in good vintage condition with beautiful patina.
