Le Corbusier - Chaise 209

A design classic designed by Le Corbusier, the Chaise 209, signifies the pinnacle of craftsmanship and design. This elegant bentwood masterpiece displays exceptional construction and design: crafted with a single curved cantigate frame from French production, it forms both the backrest and armrests.

Following the tradition of the original bentwood chair, no. 214, chair no. 209 comprises a mere six parts. Its minimalist aesthetic, along with an organic form, presents it as a sculptural piece. Celebrated Swiss architect Le Corbusier found this chair captivating, featuring it prominently in his architectural designs, such as the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. He notably praised the chair for its noble character.

Great vintage condition; the seating has been recaned with a rare Japanese dark brown cane. Early French production (sticker partly intact)
