Pierre Jeanneret - Authentic PJ-BU-02-A Desk

€17,950.00

The "Office table" desk also known as PJ-BU-02-A, was created around 1957-58 by Pierre Jeanneret. It is a beautiful blend of solid sissoo, teakwood and cedar. Its rectangular top has a frame covered in green faux leather, skillfully inserted into a strong teak frame. One side of the desk has a panel that forms a leg with a drawer and compartment, while the other side features a profiled leg with a flat triangular rail. The opening grip on an aluminum background, shaped like a hollowed-out circle, reflects the unique style of Pierre Jeanneret's work in Chandigarh.

On the visitor's side of the desk, there are four central compartments and two open compartments on the side. The choice of cedar, a softer and locally available wood, allows the leather to be securely fixed by tacking. In contrast, rosewood, which is denser, would be too hard for that purpose. This remarkable desk-bookcase was designed for secretarial and administrative use, showcasing the perfect combination of practicality and aesthetic appeal. It is held in high regard as an exemplary piece in the renowned collection of the Swiss National Museum in Zurich.

The wood is currently unrestored - upon request, we can restore the wood.
